| Description | PURPOSE: THIS PROJECT WILL CONNECT UNSERVED NATIVE HAWAIIAN HOUSEHOLDS TO HIGH-SPEED INTERNET; CONSTRUCT COMMUNITY DIGITAL INNOVATION CENTERS; ALLOW THE DEPARTMENT OF HAWAIIAN HOMELANDS (DHHL) TO MANAGE EXISTING TOWER INFRASTRUCTURE; AND CONSTRUCT CONDUIT WITH FIBER FOR DHHL HOMESTEAD COMMUNITIES CURRENTLY UNDER CONSTRUCTION. | THE FORT BELKNAP INDIAN TRIBES (TRIBE) IS SEEKING GRANT FUNDING UNDER THE TRIBAL BROADBAND CONNECTIVITY PROGRAM (PROGRAM) ADMINISTERED BY THE NATIONAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS AND INFORMATION ADMINISTRATION (NTIA) BECAUSE THE DEPLOYMENT OF BROADBAND INFRASTRUCTURE BY THE TRIBE IN ELIGIBLE AREAS ON THE FORT BELKNAP RESERVATION (RESERVATION) AND IN SURROUNDING OFF-RESERVATION TRUST LANDS WILL HELP TO MEET AN URGENT NEED TO BRING ADVANCED BROADBAND SERVICES TO TRIBAL HOUSEHOLDS IN THESE COMMUNITIES.
