| Locality | Since February 2003, St. Sabina Church, doing business as (The Ark of Saint Sabina, Catholic Bishop of Chicago - St. Sabina, Catholic Bishop of Chicago - St. Sabina Church, Catholic Bishop of Chicago St. Sabina Parish, and St. Sabina Youth Net), has received a minimum of eighty-five (85) social service delivery contracts totaling $17,022, 419.00. See the attached updated Spreadsheet / Report. Through an updated search of the City of Chicago’s Vendor, Contract and Payment: Contracts and Awards Database, we have found and downloaded Slavery Era Records Disclosure numbers and Certifications for a minimum of 25 of those contracts. See Disclosure Document numbers in green. Upon information and belief we have imputed Disclosure Document numbers for the other 60+ contracts, see red. We have not had the time or labor to verify and download the existence, online, of these Certifications. Upon information and belief, from the 25 Certifications Regarding Slavery Era Business that we have reviewed, St. Sabina and its affiliated entities checked Box 1 on all their Certifications: “The Undersigned verifies that (a) the Undersigned has searched any and all records of the Undersigned and any and all predecessor entities for records of investments or profits from slavery, the slave industry, or slaveholder insurance policies, and (b) the Undersigned has found no records of investments or profits from slavery, the slave industry, or slaveholder insurance policies and no records of names of any slaves or slaveholders.” Nothing, with respect to Part (B), is further from the truth, as we have repeatedly proven numerous times, in numerous FOIA, administrative and legal efforts over the past two decades. We will update that information, under separate cover, as well. We will share all documents filed with the media and movement, and with the African and larger progressive community, locally, nationally, and worldwide. Pan-African Roots requests, AGAIN, a copy of the 2021 Annual Slavery Era Records Report which Procurement Services promised to submit to the City Council on June 30, 2022. We request a copy of the 2003-2020 Annual Reports which the Mayor’s Office and Procurement Services were required to file. We also request records and/or logs on any and all other FOIA requests and correspondence regarding this Ordinance; and on any and all Hearings that the City Council, with Procurement's participation, was required to hold. We specifically request any and all records on the June 9, 2022, meeting of the Subcommittee on Reparations. See attached document. We are confident that Pan-African Roots will be invited to the upcoming City Council Hearing on the 2021 Annual Report, as required by law. I, like hundreds of thousands of other Africans, have been “gentrified and gerrymandered” out of Chicago, by generational and racist, systemic and institutionalized violence and corruption over the past 2 or 3 decades. I will fly or bus back in. |
