| Description | NATIVE RENEWABLE'S PROJECT TITLED ''ENERGIZING RURAL HOPI AND NAVAJO WITH SOLAR POWERED BATTERY-BASED SYSTEMS'' SEEKS TO INSTALL PHOTOVOLTAIC SOLAR SYSTEMS (PV) AND BATTERY ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS (BESS) AT OFF-GRID HOMES TO INCREASE AVAILABILITY OF CLEAN ENERGY, ENHANCE ENERGY RESILIENCE, AND INCREASE ELECTRIFICATION RATES IN NAVAJO NATION AND HOPI TRIBE COMMUNITIES. | THE PROJECT WILL HELP OFFSET DIESEL FUELED GENERATION WITH A SOLAR AND BATTERY STORAGE MICROGRID TO SERVE TRIBAL COMMUNITY BUILDINGS WITH RENEWABLE ELECTRICITY THAT WILL ALLOW FOR EXPANDED USE OF THE FACILITIES. THIS PROJECT WILL BRING WORKFORCE BENEFITS TO THE HOPI TRIBE, AS THE APPLICANTS WILL TRAIN COMMUNITY MEMBERS TO OPERATE AND MAINTAIN THE MICROGRID SYSTEM, PAID FOR THROUGH FUTURE POWER SALES FROM THESE FACILITIES. THIS REMOTE MICROGRID WILL BE THE FIRST OF ITS KIND FOR THE TRIBE AND MAY SERVE AS A MODEL FOR ADDITIONAL MICROGRIDS TO SERVE RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL CUSTOMERS ACROSS |
